Orion College

The school building, a former pastry school, has been renovated and expanded with a new-build section containing a gym, extra teaching rooms and an outdoor area. The gym is housed in the cantilever that extends over the existing school building.

The challenge with this project was the installation of the cantilever of approximately 8.5 meters in combination with the limited space on the construction site. The large frames were bolted together on the street next to the construction site, after which they were hoisted up and assembled in one go. The largest frame was 24 meters long, 6,5 meters high and weighed around 10 tons. In addition to the assembly of the steel structure, we have also laid the channel plate floors and the steel roof plates on and in this construction.
